Sulis 1907 Breakdown

For Nils Gaup’s historical epic Sulis 1907 (The Riot), Stardust Effects delivered visual effects helping recreate the mining community of Sulitjelma at the beginning of the 20th century.

Our work focused on period environments, set extensions and compositing, helping transform modern locations and expand the scale of the historical world while maintaining the film’s gritty and authentic visual style.

Produced by Storyline NOR, the film tells the true story of the 1907 miners’ uprising in Sulitjelma and the workers’ fight against oppressive conditions.

The visual effects on Sulis 1907 were nominated for Best Visual Effects at the 2024 Amanda Awards.
